A number of big companies including Banks DIH, Kings Jewellery World and the Guyana Lottery Company among others have teamed up with signature sponsor GT&T for the staging of the 3rd annual GT&T 10/10 Nationwide Softball cricket tournament which is set to bowl off on February 18, 2012.
At the official launch of the tournament, which took place on Tuesday last at the GT&T Blackberry Office, Brickdam, representatives of the co-sponsors all voiced their support for the flagship competition while assuring that the fans (an important component of the success story) will also be in for some exciting times.
Marketing Executive of Banks DIH Limited Carlton Joao in his remarks noted that his company will be associating Powerade and Vita Malt with the tournament that has grown from strength to strength since it started and Banks DIH is pleased to have been on board from the inception.
“Indeed its evolving and it’s now a significant event in our sports calendar. I would like to congratulate the team at GT&T for the fantastic work they have been doing over the past two years.”
At all the venues where games will be played, Joao committed that Powerade and Vita Malt will be available and fans can look forward to some exciting things.
“In every place that we go with this tournament we’re going to be doing some exciting things for our people, our friends, our Guyanese. So look out for quite a few giveaways and sampling opportunities.”
Joao also informed that a number of teams from Banks DIH will also be competing and they have been hard at training under lights. He called fans to come out and support the tournament which will be good for families to share in some fun.
CEO of Kings Jewellery World Mr. Looknauth Persaud jokingly noted that when he got the call from GT&T to attend an initial meeting about the tournament he felt that they wanted to get a discount on sunglasses.
He said that Kings also was on board from the first year and ever since they have given their commitment to being a partner with GT&T in this national venture which is a success story.
“We have given our commitment at Kings because of the efficient manner in which the GT&T team and all concerned have been working. I think it’s the most professional way in running a tournament and we see quite a few positives with 10/10 cricket.”
Marketing Officer of Guyana Lottery Company (GLC) Ms. Donielle Barnes stated that this is the first time that her company is on board and that they are very pleased to be a part of the tournament.
“Our new online Abrazo system which was recently launched is run in conjunction with GT&T’s Broadband and it has allowed us to deploy our machines and games into communities as far as Port Kaituma, Mahdia and Lethem.
We will be promoting “Our Scratch” It! Instant Ticket Product line during this tournament, it offers the versatility of being available via our mobile agents who will be at the various venues countrywide as well as rewarding those who play with instant cash.”
Barnes is also giving fans notice to look out for the many promotions that the GLC will be having during the course of the tournament.
Sales Manager of Gizmos and Gadgets Sophia Dolphin informed that when they were approached to be a part they had no hesitation since GT&T is known to produce quality events that is wholesome for the family.
“I know for sure that this year we’ll be giving away millions of dollars in prizes and of course our names speaks for itself. We’ll be giving away some of the most hottest gadgets to the fans because they are always special.” The other co-sponsors are NCN, Cell Phone Shack and Impressions.
Entry forms for the tournament are available in the specially produced GT&T 10/10 Magazine which are available at all GT&T Commercial Offices, members of the organisers Guyana Softball League and Selected GT&T C-Point Vendors nationwide. Cost per magazine is $1000.
The Registration process commenced on January 17 and will close on February 11 with the first set of games bowling off one week later.
