Dear Editor,
I am employed with an Institution located in Kingston and to get to work I have to drive through Water Street aback the Ministry of Public Works and Communications. Of late, the stretch of the road between Mud flat and Access Road has rapidly deteriorated now to the extent that only four-wheeled drive vehicles and to some extent can use the road.
A few days ago I happened to see workers from the nearby Guyana Forestry Commission along with a Pick-up attempting to pull out a car that was stuck on the road.
The irony in this situation is that this piece of road is just aback Minister Benn’s office and now I’m wondering if the Honourable Minister is not conscientious of his surroundings or if he is turning a blind eye and is awaiting for something serious to happen to one of his elite confederates’ vehicles before the necessary repairs can be effected.
Or is he going to wait for the “Kaieteur News” to make this road its front page photograph and then he is going to say that this newspaper only wants to give him negative publicity.
Minister Benn, instead of just being called Mr Bruk up you can also be called Mr Fix it too by just instructing the relevant department to get the road repaired.
After all, myself and the many others that would normally traverse this on a daily basis are paying our fair share of taxes so don’t we deserve something proper at least? We cannot afford SUVs.
Randy Persaud
