Dear Editor,
I reference you to NTN Television, mainly to emphasize my displeasure with NTN Channel 18 programme scheduling. The station advertised that it would be carrying the matches between India and Australia, only for me to find out that the game is being interrupted by a series of different programmes, which include the Indian soaps, local programmes and lengthy advertising.
I have no problem with any of the above programmes since the station has various constituencies to satisfy, but to advertise a specific broadcast of a live event and then to delay it to show other programmes is dissatisfying to the viewership.
This is the station that also advertises that it is the number one cricket channel in Guyana, but if you are going to broadcast part of the game and then bring a delayed broadcast it does make much sense in this age of technology.
I would be happy if some other stations would express an interest to broadcast the cricket and any other sporting events for that matter. From the way I see it we have a lot of senseless local programmes that have very limited viewership.
I believe sports in general would keep our young people more interested in television and at the same time provide them with some form of motivation.
I trust that some of these stations take up the opportunity that is lacking in the market.
M. Tony
