The High Commission of India in Guyana has announced that it would be issuing scholarships to several Guyanese in undergraduate, post graduate and doctoral studies.
Awardees will be placed at Universities and Institutions in India for the academic year 2012-2013.
The High Commission stated that the scholarships would be administered by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) under the following scholarship plans: Commonwealth Scholarships Plan where four scholarships will be awarded; and Commonwealth 50th Anniversary Endowment Fund Scholarship Scheme.
Under the latter plan, 25 scholarships will be awarded for undergraduate studies while 15 scholarships will be offered for post graduate. The scholarships would be available for studies in various disciplines except in medicine and dentistry.
The High Commission said the scholarship programme provides a lifetime opportunity for a student to study in a prestigious institution in India and, to learn about the available opportunities for further higher studies in the country. The medium of instruction will be English and students will interact with fellow scholars from other countries, including India.
As part of the programme, the Indian Government would provide a prospective candidate the international airfare, tuition; stipend, contingent grant, accommodation or house rent allowance, thesis and desertation expenses.
