The newly constructed Mobile Outpost
Defence Force received yet another Floating Mobile outpost. The vessel which cost approximately $40M was constructed by Courtney Benn Contracting Services.
Chief Executive Officer, Courtney Benn explained that engineers spent almost six months to construct the vessel. The vessel, which is double deck, is fitted with all the modern accommodations for about 20 persons. Kaieteur News was told that original drawings for the vessel were modified from time to time.
Benn further explained that with this successful completion of this vessel, another contract has been awarded to his company for the construction of another one. Further describing the vessel, Benn said that it contains two 500 gallon storage tanks, one for diesel and the other for gasoline.
He said the vessel does not have an engine and it would be the mother ship for smaller boats. He also noted that the vessel if fully equipped with its own generating system.
