Satro and Maryville recorded victories as the Kishan Bacchus Construction Company\ Leguan Cricket Committee twenty\ 20 competition continued recently in the Essequibo River Island.
On Saturday at Enterprise ground, Satro made light work of Falcons, defeating them by 7 wickets in the first match.
Falcons took first strike after winning the toss and folded for 78 in 13 overs. Rick Steven was the only batsman that offered any resistance with 22 as Kevin Gordon, Imtiaz Khan and Saif Razack claimed 2 wickets each for Satro who responded with 79-3 in 11.4 overs. Huckumchand Savitir was their leading run getter with 37, while Saif Razack lent support with 18.
In the day’s second encounter, Maryville got the better of Rebels by 5 runs. Maryville batted first and posted 120-9 off their allotted overs. Tatteshwar Chetram top scored with 38 as Hemraj Persaud picked up 3-9, while Raymond Nandram took 2-20 and Rameshwar Oudit 2-21.
Rebels in reply were bowled out in the19th over for 115. Oudit returned to score 32 and Wazir Alli contributed 31. Ryan Jacobs was the pick of the bowlers with 4-24. Aseeb Khan was also among the wickets with figures of 2-13 for Maryville who now leads the points table with 12 followed by Satro and Young Warriors on 8 each. Falcons and Rebels are in the cellar position with 2 points apiece.
Meanwhile Satro, Young Warriors, Falcons and Rebels failed to show up on Sunday for their final preliminary round games. Chairman of the Leguan Cricket Committee Verendra Chintamanie told Kaieteur sport that the committee will meet shortly to decide their fate.
