Dec 21, 2011 Letters
The Editor,
When I functioned as a chauffeur/security for the former Prime Minister, I got to know Mr. Gerry Gouveia,
Mr. Gouveia wrote a letter to Mr. Granger complaining about patriotic action taken by APNU youths when they staged a peaceful picket at his business place, Duke Lodge, in Kingston.
All along I thought Mr. Gouveia was just another progressive businessman, but when I heard of the many sweet arrangement he got from the Jagdeo administration we wondered. He has been silent on the many issues that affect our youths, and ordinary folks.
He must know that perceptions are important — in the midst of the Elections result contention he finds the time to click glasses with Dr, Surjbally at the latter’s home. Was he celebrating the new Presidency as the neutral person would like us to believe him?
The majority of Guyanese are convinced something went wrong with these 2011 Elections, and to be celebrating with the GECOM Chairman apart from other factors sends a wrong message to us. To Mr. Gouveia, I share this old saying. “Had you not with the crows been found you would be all safe and sound”
