Dear Editor,
I wish to highly commend Mr. Freddie Kisson for “calling out” Mr. Ronald Sanders on his double-speak. I too, noticed the not-so-glib about-face in the writings of Mr. Sanders after the November 28, 2011 elections.
This is nothing new to Sanders who has been allowed to get away with this sort of about-face journalism time and again, whenever things don’t exactly go as he predicts or expects.
Mr. Sanders’ modus operandi is a simple one that has reaped dividends for him in the past. It kinda sorta worked in Dominica. But it is in Antigua where he was able to creep into the psyche of one of its ex Prime Ministers, that Sanders really came into his own.
It is an open secret that he was the power behind the throne of Lester Bird. Once it was clear that the ALP ship was about to sink after the 2004 elections, Sanders was the first man overboard. He hasn’t been heard from since.
But Sanders seems to have totally misread the tea leaves on the Guyana elections and came out guns blazing for the PPP/C.
Now that history has revealed the plans the majority of Guyanese had for the ruling cabal, Sanders has unashamedly changed his tune and now pretends to be indignant with the Party he hailed as the best thing that happened to Guyana in 30 years.
He only now publicly acknowledges the abuse of state power by the guys whom he, up to a few weeks ago, felt could walk on water. He has only now found out that the PPP/C vulgarly monopolized the press and denied the opposition access to state media.
Where was his voice when Jagdeo, not satisfied with his total monopoly on state media, attempted to close CNS just before the elections and that save for some timely behind-the-scene diplomatic interventions, the PPP’s message would have completely dominated the airwaves of Guyana?
Mr. Sanders must now realize and admit that today he could have been sucking up to a totally different bunch of fellas in Georgetown.
I do not always agree with Freddie but I have to say that on this score, he is spot on. I applaud him for his consistency and fearlessness in exposing hypocrites and hypocrisy.
There must be no place for the fork-tongued opportunists among us to hide. Continue to expose them Freddie.
Kevin Henry
Please share this to every Guyanese including your house cats.
