The Enterprise Road Safety association continued its decades-old relationship with the Cheshire Home at Mahaica, East Coast Demerara with yet another timely donation of basic items.
Over the past 35 years the Association has been making the donation, and it has become an annual feature at Christmas time.
Yesterday, the association handed over toiletries, toys and other kitchen items, which will definitely go a far way in assisting the home to fulfill its mandate to the many residents, some of whom have been there for more than a decade.
“This is something we always have on our agenda. From since January we start to plan this. We have this dear to our hearts,” said Chandrapaul Persaud, President of the Enterprise Road Safety Association.
He called on other persons to join the movement to assist the Cheshire Home.
“We feel that this home really needs things like these.”
Cheryl Thomas, Nurse-in-charge who received the items, expressed gratitude on behalf of the home’s administration for the timely donation.
She said that donations like these make the work of persons at the home less stressful, since even the residents recognize the impact it will have on their upkeep.
Thomas explained that most persons would donate cooked food regularly, which is very much appreciated, but the items donated by the road safety group are special.
“It makes our work lighter and I would ask other people to be just as generous as the Enterprise Road Safety Association,” Thomas said.
