Leading amateur boxer Imran ‘Magic’ Khan will be the guest of the Amateur International Boxing
Association (AIBA) in a specialised training camp set for February 18 to March 10 in Cardiff, Wales.
Guyana Amateur Boxing Association (GABA) President, Steve Ninvalle, informed of the golden opportunity offered Khan. Ninvalle noted that Guyana was offered one spot at the elite camp for Olympic hopefuls and the decision to select Khan was easy.
The GABA boss informed that AIBA notified him that 20 of the best Trainers in the World will oversee the three week camp and he was extremely happy for the exposure for his fighter. While he would have loved to have more boxers attending, Ninvalle is grateful that one of his better prospects has been afforded a wonderful opportunity. He noted that they (GABA) are currently in contact with AIBA and are internally looking at the prospects of having a local coach to make the trip even if they have to foot the bill.
However, Khan, who turns 19 years in January, has delivered the goods on most of his overseas sojourns. Most recently, he secured a bronze medal at the ALBA Games in Venezuela, while producing a gold medal performance at the Ronald Wilson memorial Games in Barbados. Ninvalle and his team are expecting good things from Khan, who is a slick, exciting and very skillful young fighter who could do himself and country proud in the very near future.
One condition for Khan to attend the training camp was that he must participate in the AIBA Americas Olympic box off set for Brazil in
April. All the documentation requested by AIBA on Khan has been forwarded and the stage is set for him to use this golden opportunity to improve and turn in a golden performance in next year’s box off in Brazil and Olympic Games in London.
Where is the BETTER MANAGEMENT/RENEGOTIATION OF THE OIL CONTRACTS you promised Jagdeo?
