A new website dedicated to all things related to the horseracing industry in Guyana has been launched. “We are pleased to offer a new vehicle that is the first of its kind for the Guyanese horseracing community” says www.guyanahorseracing.com website founder and designer R. Scott Ramnarine.
Most countries around the globe have websites dedicated to the sport. However, Guyana does not. Ever since the British released power to the people of Guyana horseracing has not only declined but has outright suffered. The vision and mission of this website is to help restore horseracing to what it once was in Guyana.
On the website one can find a section for horsemen that includes provisional programmes, race entries, race results, race course listings in Guyana and with the co-operation of race courses, video.
The website also has the capability of hosting live video from any given race meet in Guyana at anytime. Other additions that can be made are listings of horses for sale, farm listings and jockey and trainer contact info.
The website also has a Facebook page. Ramnarine adds, “We believe the younger generation will be open and welcome this new technology and social media to keep informed about the sport. Anyone is welcome to suggest new ideas that will help promote and enhance the content found on the website.”
