Play in the 77th Birthday Inter Ward, Street and Village Knockout football fiesta for Mayor Hamilton Green will conclude tomorrow at the Georgetown Football Club ground, Bourda with the quarterfinal, semi and final matches.
The final eight teams are: Mocha, Kuru Kuru Warriors, Alexander Village, Western ‘A’, North East LaPenitence, West Front Road, Reggae Boys and Leopold Street.
The teams have agreed and will have their names placed in a bag and the fixtures drawn randomly for the quarterfinal matches. A similar thing will be done for the semifinals with the winner moving onto contest the final later in the evening.
Teams are requested to arrive early (before the 6:00pm start) at the venue for the drawing of the fixtures. They are reminded that this tournament has the no-off side rule in effect, which adds to the excitement of the competition.
The teams are battling for the Body Max and International Guyanese entertainer Eddie Grant sponsored respective $200,000 and $100,000 first and second prizes. Keen competition is expected. Two exciting players expected to be on show are Dorville Stewart leading Mocha who are focused on capturing the first prize and Orville Milton of North East.
Among the sponsors for Mayor’s Birthday Football Fiesta are Body Max Gym who donated the first prize, Guyanese International star Eddie Grant who put up the second prize, BK International, Chris Fernandes, New Thriving Restaurant, Sterling Products, Winston Rambarran, Nigel’s Super Market, Dr. Colin Watson, Crown Mining, Farfan and Mendes, James Bovell of the Business School, DDL and Clem Duncan Snr of Swansea.
Please share this to every Guyanese including your house cats.
