With foreign teams from Trinidad and Tobago and Barbados anticipated to participate in the Diamond Mineral Water International Indoor Festival, Kaieteur Sport takes a look at Malvern standout Oire Trotman, who is expected to play a major role for her team during the Ladies segment of the competition.
Trotman known for her blinding speed is no stranger to this tournament, having participated in previous years with much success.
Having burst onto the international scene for Trinidad and Tobago, making her debut at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Malaysia, she has spent her time until recently as one of the leading strikers of the Caribbean and Central American Champions. A prolific goal-scorer with speed and skills to usually outclass her opposing defenders, Trotman is feared around the Caribbean.
Trotman is a recipient of the prestigious WITCO Award given for the best hockey player in Trinidad and Tobago. She was an instrumental member of the T&T national team which won the CAC Games gold medal in the 2002 and 2010 and Pan Am Indoor tournament in 2002 (qualifying for the 1st World Cup Indoor Championship).
Malvern happens to be one of the oldest hockey clubs in the region which is in its 69th year.
