Senior chess champion, Taffin Khan continued his good showing to retain the lead position
when the Geddes Grant/Seven Seas 2011 National Senior Chess Championship continued at the Ocean Spray Hotel, Stanley Place Kitty over the past weekend.
The aspiring grandmaster notched up 8 points from as many games to retain the lead with just six more matches remaining. Maria Thomas was positioned at second place with six points, while Frankie Farley had amassed 5½ points to round off the top three positions. The other senior player, Glenford Corlette is on 3½ points.
Anthony Drayton leads the junior category on 4½ points followed by Saeed Ali (3) Rashad Hussain (1½) Suhai Feng (½). Both Hussain and Feng were absent last weekend which has affected their scores significantly. The championship resumes on Saturday December 3 at the same venue when another four rounds would be contested.
