The Noitgedacht Sports Club was unsure of their semifinal game in the Wakenaam Cricket Committee\Thakur Lookram twenty\20 competition which was scheduled to be played two Sundays ago at the Wakenaam Community Centre ground in Good Success, so said Chairman of the club Trevor Stewart.
An angry Stewart told Kaieteur sport that he received a fixture for the game two days before the scheduled date from the Secretary and later made contact with another executive member from the committee enquiring about the condition of the ground since it was raining. He said the individual promised to give him an update about the ground condition but he never did.
Stewart said that was the reason his team did not travel to the venue because he thought the match was called off.
“I received a call from the sponsor minutes before the game but that was too late for my team to get prepared for the match,” he stated.
Sans Souci, however, got a walk over from Noitgedacht but the organisers and sponsor decided that they will play Sans Souci Jaguars who lost the first semifinal against Good Success for a berth in the final since the Jaguars won both of their preliminary round matches and Sans Souci lost one and the rain had the final say in their second.
Good Success and Sans Souci will clash in the final on Sunday at the said venue. Stewart also said that the club will lodge a protest to the Secretary about the game shortly. (Zaheer Mohamed)
