…sub-contractor bids $1B for section of Amaila Falls access road
Six bids were opened on Tuesday for Phase Two of the West Demerara synthetic track (construction of boundary fence and ticket booths, Leonora Community Centre Ground).
The track is to be the first of its kind here and is seen as key to taking athletics to another level. The bids were opened by the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board (NPTAB), Ministry of Finance, Main Street.
The engineer’s estimate was announced at $75, 374,852 while the bids submitted were:

With an engineer’s estimate at $2,759,189, the Guyana Energy Agency also received bids for the rehabilitation of the existing shed, encasement of two containers and revetment of the northern drain of its Quamina Street offices. The offices were broken into on a number of occasions with thieves making off with fuel markers. The bids are as follows:

Meanwhile, seven bids were submitted under the Ministry of Health for the site preparation works for the Specialty Hospital, Turkeyen. The engineers estimate for the project is $161,552,000. The bids submitted were:

Another project for the Ministry of Health was submitted for critical improvement works at Charles Rosa Nursing School and the Nurses’ Hostel. With an engineer’s estimate set at $2,824,925, the bids submitted were:

Under the Ministry of Agriculture, the National Drainage and Irrigation Authority (NDIA) had one lone bid tendered for the construction of a road culvert at Soesdyke, East Bank Demerara. The engineer’s estimate is $14,942,600.

In addition, NPTAB also opened bids under the Ministry of Housing for the construction of roads and drains at Foulis, East Coat Demerara. With an engineer’s estimate of $31,769,650, the bids submitted were:

Meanwhile, five bids for the construction/rehabilitation of the Amaila Falls Access Road were also opened at the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board (NPTAB).
It will be recalled that contracts were awarded to Synergy Holdings Inc. but because of non-performance, government took a decision to sub-contract sections of the road which will provide access to the multi-million Amaila Falls Hydro Project.
Under the Ministry of Public Works and Communication, four sections were tendered for at the NPTAB- sections Three, Four, Five and Six. The engineer’s estimate for Section Three is $425, 433, 030; Section Four- $348, 834, 930; Section Five- $264,640,400 and Section Six -$403,592, 400.
