Royal Champion owned trained and ridden By Rupert ‘Put’ Ramnauth is a horse with a mission.
Back after a string of injuries and a loss of form, the animal is looking to regain its royalty.
As the name alone would suggest it is accustom to being among the top echelons whenever it races. Improving all the time, the racehorse is back to full fitness after a lengthy lay off and is once again enjoying the winner’s enclosure.
Royal Champion had once dominated the two and three year old category races. But fell out of synch after that.
Not too often a one horse would dominate the racing scene as in most cases horses from a stable would do so, but according to Ramnauth he is on a crusade to the top. Ramnauth, who is also one of the top jockeys in Guyana, stated that he has learnt a few new tricks from his many years in the trade as an owner, trainer and rider that will help him to stay on top of his game.
The animal has been in and out of racing and according to Ramnauth it is now back to full fitness. Presently campaigning in the H class category, the animal is capable of competing in both the sprints and distance races.
In its last encounter on the racetrack at the Ryan Crawford Memorial Turf Club race meet two weeks ago, Royal Champion destroyed its rivals to race away with the H class event which was worth $200,000 and trophy. That event was a 1400M race. (Samuel Whyte)
