First it was Jagdeo ‘cussing’ now the cussing catch on. Moses ‘cussing’, Ramjattan ‘cussing’, Rajendra Bisessar ‘cussing’, Veerasammy (I go visit them at Riker’s Island) Ramayya also ‘cussing’. With two weeks to go before election, things are really heating up.
I predicted in these columns months ago that this will be the dirtiest election ever. It will get worse in the next two weeks. Robert already said that the President is only responding and will continue to respond. Great, then Moses and company will hit back, you see where this is going.
David Hinds got his “two cents in “also. More on his rhetoric later. Granger is laid back watching, too laid back for someone who wants to be President. By the way, is APNU manifesto out? With two weeks left, I am wondering when they plan to inform the Guyanese voters in writing how they plan to run the country.
I will get into more details of the “cussing” in a moment. While I am on the subject of David Granger, I did an interview with him about two months ago, he came across to me as a very sincere and dignified person, very pleasant, maybe that is why he is keeping “above the cussing”.
Politics, however, is a dirty game, and as the old saying goes, “Nice guys finish last”. Does anybody find it strange that PNC/APNU and the AFC do not criticize each other? AFC hopes to capture not only PPP supporters but wants to increase its seat at the expense of APNU. So why is APNU not attacking the AFC? After all, a PNC vote going to AFC weakens APNU but will strengthen the PPP. I guess the common enemy is the PPP.
Moses, oh Moses, how conflicted art thou? After a dedicated 50 years you got an epiphany, a conversion that is a little confusing. It was only a few months ago that you wanted to lead the PPP, to be its Presidential Candidate, and now it is that evil organization you could not stand. Explain to me this conversion. I mean we are not talking 50 weeks, or 50 months, we are talking about 50years.
What went wrong on your way to the Presidency? How creditable can you be to the voters? One moment you want to head the PPP, but after being disappointed the party is “no good”. How you can reconcile these two positions? Now don’t get me wrong, I think you are a “straight talker” and a decent person. I personally think that some of the young “Johnny come lately” in the PPP has not earned the right to criticize you, still I am sure many of your supporters, would have preferred for you to just resigned from the PPP.
BEST ‘COME BACK’ OF THE WEEK
Rajendra Bisessar gets top honours for the “come back” of the week. “I forgot some garbage at OP” this after President Jagdeo ridiculed him by saying he was not an adviser, but a garbage collector.
Bisessar added, “I forgot to take out ALL the garbage”. Hey Mr. President don’t knock garbage collectors. Those guys in New York City earn more than you or your Ministers: paycheck wise.
Running a close second is Dr. Veerasammy Ramayya. Man, he is “steaming and frothing at the mouth” because the PPP held its meeting in front of his house, then telling him he will be jailed for being a “quack doctor”.
Ramayya retorted that he in turn will visit some of the PPP leaders at Rikers Island. Rikers Island is a famous New York prison situated on Rikers Island. Roger Khan was a guest there for his trial. Dr Ramayya must have viewed the meeting as “real eye pass”. I guess the good doctor is now learning that politics is a dirty game.
Talking about his being a Doctor, is there any truth that he is practising medicine with a Psychology Degree? If that is so, no wonder he ran to Guyana with his US. Passport. Had he tried that stunt in the U.S, he would have been a guest at Rikers Island.
Now Freddie must be mellowing. The man’s getting soft. Now don’t let your imagination go in the gutter. I am talking of his writing. He actually called me a gentleman. Actually the quote was “that gentleman who lives in Florida”. This is a far cry from some of the adjectives he used to describe me in earlier columns, and I will respond in kind. You civil to me I will return the favour. I do not have a problem with people criticizing me unlike Freddie, who feels criticism is a one way street.
Where I have a problem with Freddie is the misinformation he peddles; like saying I am a “recent convert to the PPP cause”. But Freddie being Freddie we have to excuse him when he makes up stories.
He concedes that I have the right to express my views. He assigns himself the right to criticize if those views do not confirm with his view of the world. Like the current political campaign Freddie is always long on criticizing individuals but short on substance when it comes to issues.
Freddie feels that since I am not in Guyana, not present at political rallies, I am not competent to make a judgment on the issues. I assume Freddie attends every rally or events that he comments on.
Without going into details on how I get my information, the focus of this column is to give a viewpoint as being observed by someone outside of Guyana. Freddie even knows my plans. “I ain’t coming back” (to Guyana). See you in a few weeks Freddie. Lunch on me in GT, hope you turn up.
And so the silly season continues (thanks for the phrase, Adam) for two more weeks. There is still time for all the parties to talk on issues. I am sure the electorate is getting fed up with all the “cussing”
