The Ogle Community Centre has organized a fun filled day of activities for the entire family and Public Relations Officer of the club, Sheik Yasen has assured that the day will be fun filled and are urging the public to support the venture. Activities get underway on Sunday November 30 and admission to the venue is free.
Several sports events will characterize the day’s activities including a 6 overs cricket tournament, 5 a side football, lime and spoon race and sack races. There will also be a domino tournament, table tennis, pools and athletics among other activities.
Activities are planned towards the development of the club and its infrastructure and Yasen intimated that the Club has been in existence for a number of years but has been dysfunctional over the past five years. He said that a group of individuals, anxious to reinstate the status quo, convened and initiated discussions towards the reinstatement of the club and a viable executive committee.
The group had subsequently held discussions with former Minister within the Ministry of Local Government, Clinton Collymore, after which, elections were held and consequently a new executive was installed. Among them are Ishmail Janmohamed (President), Khemchandra Dindyal (Treasurer), Persaud (PRO), Khalid Haslim (Sports Organizer), Rickey Cheddie (Club captain), Joey Haslim and Romain Mangra (committee members).
The above mentioned day of sports is the first venture of the committee and Mr. Yasen disclosed that all efforts are being made to meet a high standard. He further said that organizers have been able to relax the admission fees due largely to an influx of sponsors that had offset the prohibitive costs. Entities are BM Soat, M Beepat and Sons, M&K Cash and Carry, Crazy Auto Works, Narine’s Trading, Robert Chair and Tent Rental, Gain Mart, Zalata Auto Works, Builder’s Lumber Yard, S&M Trading, Steve 101 Sound, Tulsie machine Shop, Sterling Products Ltd, Regal Stationery and Matt’s Printing Establishment.
