Former Young Warriors, Berbice and National Cricket Captain, Damodar Daesrath
and the Club’s former no-nonsense opener, Loaknauth Ramsuchit, made a timely donation of coloured clothing to the Club’s first division team.
The former players are still in Guyana following their participation in the recently completed Softball Mini World Cup competition.
Former Berbice Inter County softball opener, Yadram ‘Lara’ Bhoj, owner of JDG Tooling in Canada and Andrew Persaud of Dant’s Powder Coating also of Canada, assisted with the acquisition of the uniforms. Daesrath was also instrumental in the previous set of uniforms for the club.
Coach Hubern Evans, Secretary/Treasurer Anil Beharry and Manager John Samlall, thanked the donors and assured them that the gear will be well taken care of. They mentioned that it is the responsibility of the club to provide opportunities for cricketers in the East Canje area and there is no other club in the area that participates at all levels of cricket competitions run by the Berbice Cricket Board.
Daesrath, one of the better cricketers that came from the Canje area, commended members of the club for keeping the club’s flag flying despite the many challenges. He said the club is always in his heart and will continue to assist whenever possible. He called on the players to remain focus and disciplined.
Ramsuchit in his remarks echoed Daesrath’s comments. The duo it was noted; is aiming to make the Canada National cricket team and are working hard towards this goal and the club wishes them well in this endeavor.
Beharry said that negotiations are ongoing for the First Division team to be sponsored by Mr. Vick Seubarran of Universal DVD Club.
