Undoubtedly, one of the best Super Bike riders to have graced these shores, Canadian Kevin Graham speaking with Kaieteur Sport via telephone yesterday disclosed that he is feeling good and ready to give the motor racing fans a real treat.
Graham, who is here in Guyana to compete at this Sunday’s GT&T / Seaboard Marine Motor Racing Championship readily admitted that he hasn’t raced for some time, having missed the two previous legs of the Series in Jamaica and Barbados respectively said he looking forward to competing against the likes of locals Stephen ‘Valentino Rossi’ Vieira and Carlos Rodrigues, two riders he identified as very talented and surely the future stars in the sport.
He stated that even though he is not in with a chance of winning the individual overall title due to his absence from the two previous Meets, he is still motivated to going on the track Sunday and entertain the fans.
Asked to respond to the question of whether he could stop the red hot Vieira on this occasion, Graham replied by saying that it is always good to have someone to push you to the limit and he is looking forward to the rivalry.
“Look Stephen is a great competitor and we both have a lot of respect for each other, but that doesn’t mean that we don’t race each other hard, we do,” Graham stated.
He added that he feels Carlos Rodrigues is going to do well, referring to him as a fantastic rider and not to count out.
Graham, who has been coming to Guyana to race for quite a number of years spoke of the improvements of the track, adding that it is a good move by the Government and the club and really augurs well for the sport.
According to him, more competitors will be more willing to come now that the previously abrasive surface that damaged tyres faster is no longer a problem.
The Canadian speed merchant revealed that he will be looking to get in some valuable practice starting today to get the machine up to optimum performance.
