Banks DIH Limited takes charge, Sankar Auto works also on board
The day has finally arrived! Today is Race day and all roads lead to the Ryan Crawford Memorial Turf Club at Alness Village Corentyne Berbice. Beverage Giants Banks DIH Limited has now taken charge of the proceedings for the $7M horserace meet.
Some changes have been made to the day’s proceedings with nine races now on the day’s card and all is set for the Mega meet. With thousands expected to throng the venue to witness the over 80 horses have taken entry.
A look at the Main feature B class event sponsored by Beverage Giants Banks DIH Limited for the Banks DIH Stakes and trophy and over $2M up for grabs, will see the winners collecting $1M and the Banks DIH trophy over 1700M. The distance should suit all entries and some of the question that will be asked and should be answered is can Get Set Go extend on its two race winning streak and continue its unbeaten run in Guyana or will Donut Prince return after it big win in the Guyana Cup and a lengthy lay off to take back glory or the top rated The Message, which is in good form and is due for a win take the cake.
Another top runner, Zelik also returns after a lengthy layoff, add the likes of Night Crescendo, Grande De Roja, Tiger Prospect, Miss Orientate, Pinch D Cash and Marathon Man all excellent runners and an exciting race is anticipated.
The 3yrs old race for West Indies Bred horses over 1400M is also expected to a scorcher with Better Than Gold looking to continue its 10 race unbeaten run, but with the likes of Swing Easy, Work Force and Captain Crook all in top form looking to end that streak. Add Big Impact Technology, Gold Plated, Bridal Stone Corner and Gig Red to the mix and the $400,000 top prize and the Buddy Oree memorial trophy will ensure a ding dong affair.
There is the F and lower race also with a winning money of $400,000 over 1400M for the Dr. Dwight Walrond trophy will be contested by Delmur Gold, Got To Go, Momzelle, Dubai Dutchess and Face the Music among others.
The Two Year old 1200M race for West Indies Bred Horse has a winner’s purse of $320,000 and the Guyana School of Agriculture trophy, Princess Kiara, Big Red, Pride & Joy, Feel the gold Rock Sonna and Red Cloud will collide.
Sankar’s Auto Works, Valvoline Instant Oil takes charge of the Two-year old Guyana Bred event for the Kenrick Auto Sales trophy and $250,000 first prize over 1100M. Looking for the win will be Watch my Shadow, Golden Reprise, Bad Romance, Rotavator, Baby Flyer and Something Stylish among others.
The G and lower line up as a full top class field assembly for the $300,000 winners money and trophy over 1600M and the Flambouyant Supermarket trophy with Top of the Line, Miracle Run, Damascus Dream, South Sea, Royal Champion, Stormy Lass, Gold Plated, Northern Dancer, Savion, Coconut Boy and Celebration Time all looking to be in the celebration party at the end of the race.
The H and Lower race compliments of Delmur Company Ltd and Attorney R.N. Poonai over 1400M has $200,000 as the winning money with Infinity, Dream Girl, Coconut Boy, Royal Champion, Royal Salute, Quincy, Prospector’s Pride, Funny Sided, De Gump and Princess Renukha battling for the win.
The ‘I’ class event has a winning money of $160,000 also over 1400M. Funny Sided, Kevin, Princess Renukha, Lucky Gamble Try again and Little Spike runs for the Jumbo Jet Auto Sales, Shariff Racing Stables, Caricom General Insurance stakes and the Bibi Hamid trophy.
The final race compliments of Mr. Desmond Sears and the R.C M.T.C & S.F for the Rakesh Bar Garden trophy is for animals classified JK&L (Division 1, 2, 3) over 1200M with the winners set to collect $100,000. The line up reads Silver Kid, Sporting Time, Simba, Solider Boy, Mr. Cool, Bay Bridge and Rock Steady.
Outstanding individual performers including top Jockey, trainer and stable will be presented with accolades compliments of the Trophy Stall Bourda Market and the Ryan Crawford Memorial Turf Club. The track is in the pink of the condition and a lot of new records are expected to be posted. Race time is 13:00 hrs.
