The 12 annual Balram Shane Challenge Fund raising 50 overs cricket match between archrivals Albion Community and Port Mourant is fixed for Sunday November 20 at the Albion Sports Complex ground.
The match is being sponsored by Businessman Deonarine Balram of The Balram Shane General Store beginning at 09:30hrs.
A close and enlivening encounter is anticipated as is the case whenever these two teams tangle in any cricket match.
Both teams are expected to be at full strength and a bumper crowd is expected to be on hand and a close encounter is envisaged.
The winning team will receive the Balram Shane Memorial trophy and cash incentives, while a number of individual awards will also be up for grabs including the Man-of-the-match, best bowler and best batsman among others, all compliments of the family, who will be on hand to present the winners with their accolades. According to Organiser Deonarine Balram of the Balram Shane General Store in Rose Hall Town, this competition is being played in memory of his father who was a former player and cricket enthusiast. He stated that apart from Cricket it is their way of giving back to the community from which they garner their support in a tangible way.
Proceeds from the game will be dived equally and distributed to the two teams to assist them with the cricket development programmes.
Mr. Balram further stated that four second division teams and a few other organizations will also benefit from the proceeds of the game.
These entities will be given tickets to sell and keep the proceeds from the ticket sales.
