Powerade CONCACAF Women’s U20 Qualifying Group D
The Lady Jags plans to continue to utalise their intense fitness level to good effect when the Powerade sponsored CONCACAF Women’s Under-20 Qualifying continues at the Uitvlugt Community Centre Ground today with another double header from 13:00hrs.
After mauling Antigua and Barbuda 7-0 on Wednesday at eth same venue in their first game, the Lady Jags will be aiming to continue their dominance in the Championship with another flawless performance against the Anguillans who lost to the Dominican Republic 5-0
In an invited comment, Manager of the Guyana team, Colin Baker told Kaieteur Sport that he has confidence in his charges while disclosing that the their present target is to remain focused and also to play as a unit since the team was unable to train as they wished, time and the change of weather being the major factors.
Barker also added that he was elated with the girls’ performance and expects them to continue with their dominance. “The girls went out and executed well and I will be looking forward for them to continue their good execution in this group of the qualifiers.”
Guyana’s charge will again be led by the imposing power forward Otesha Charles who already has four goals to her name. Captain Ashlee Savona, who has proven her worth as the play maker and a member of the Senior Lady Jags unit that did Guyana proud will again use her experience as she leads this energized bunch.
The general public is invited to give their home support of the Lady Jags at the Uitvlugt Community Centre Ground where the opening encounter at 13:00hrs today will see the Dominican Republic matching skills with Antigua & Barbuda.
The Dominican lasses blanked Anguilla in their opening game and will be aiming to record their second win in as many matches which will set up a mouth watering group finale against the host nation on Sunday. Admission is $300.00.
The top two teams from this group will join Trinidad and Tobago, Cayman Islands, Jamaica and Cuba in the second round of qualifying set for December.
