-subscribers to be compensated
Digicel Guyana has announced that all BlackBerry subscribers who were affected by last week’s service disruption will be compensated by the company.
Pre-paid subscribers will receive an additional week of service while post-paid subscribers will get their subscription fee waived.
“Customers will be notified by text message once their accounts have been appropriately adjusted on Monday and Tuesday,” the company said yesterday.
All services affected by the recent connectivity failure have been fully restored.
“Top up service was back up on Thursday evening while other services including GPRS/EDGE were fully restored over the weekend.”
According to Digicel, its Chief Executive Officer, Gregory Dean, is once again apologizing to all customers for the inconvenience and assured customers that the company did everything possible to get all affected services restored in the shortest possible time.
“The recovery of services took longer than what is acceptable due to the degree of damage experienced at a critical satellite connection site that was struck by lightning. We know that the disruption severely affected customers and we sincerely apologize.”
Despite its $50,000-plus cost, BlackBerry has become a highly in-demand mobile phone for especially office folks always on the go and wanting to keep in contact with clients and access their email. It has also become a fashion statement.
