The Pegasus Tennis Open starts on Friday Nov 4 at the hotel’s courts in Kingston. The tournament, which is held annually, coincides with the anniversary for the Hotel which has been sponsoring the tournament for over 20 years.
Pegasus’s contribution to tennis over the years has been vast with the tennis courts acting like a default home for tournaments and training camps.
Pegasus, which is one of the premier hotels in Guyana views its sponsorship of sports as one way of contributing as a corporate citizen and was pleased to be associated with the development of tennis.
The tournament which kicks off with an opening ceremony at 5:00pm on Friday is expected to attract the best tennis players locally and last year winners Jeremy Miller in the Men’s Singles and Carol Humphrey in the Ladies Singles will be hard pressed to retain their titles.
This year a Novice category is being introduced where tie-break sets will be played.
Participants are asked to uplift their entry forms at the offices of Ram & McRae, the Pegasus Hotel or from tennis coaches. The deadline for entry is tomorrow, Tuesday Nov 2.
Contact can be made with coordinator Andre Lopes 685-0889 for further information.
