Motor racing fans in Guyana and abroad have been promised a day of exhilarating daredevilry during the final leg of the GT&T Seaboard Marine Caribbean Motor Racing Championship which is scheduled to be staged on November 13, at the South Dakota Circuit.
This is the promise made by Group 3& 4 racer Gavin Gayadin when he spoke with Kaieteur Sport which visited the team’s preparations at Industrial Site where his BMW M3 was being tested on the Dyno machine for reliability, torque and other related examinations as the countdown narrows.
Gayadin, a consistent performer over the years, disclosed that the car had experienced an overheating problem that damaged the Block at the last Meet, but the team was able to rectify the snag and they are now set and ready to throw down the gauntlet on anyone standing in their way.
The local speedster, though, reluctant to divulge much more about what the fans could expect from him would only say that something special will be witnessed and urged his supporters to be there at the circuit to be part of it.
Guyana is anticipated to compete in both the Group 3&4 categories and according to him, if he is to judge from the performance of the car during early testing, he fancies a record breaking performance.
No stranger to producing some fast lap times, Gayadin has already registered a blistering 36.3 seconds to claim the Group 3 lap record.
He said he believes that he could lower the record even further, but refrained from making a bold prediction.
Speaking about the opposition, Gayadin mentioned drivers such as Kem Lall, Paul Vieira, Ravi Singh, Kamal Seebarran, Raj Boodhoo and Kemal Rahaman as those to watch.
Commenting on the Meet, Gayadin said that it is the firm opinion of many that motor racing has grown over the years and has now become one of the major contributors to the tourism industry.
He, however, stated that even though many more corporate entities have come on board, because the sport is extremely costly there is need for much more support.
