Bakewell Buxton Stars have taken over the top spot in the points standings following the latest round of matches in the 2011 Ansa McAl Mackeson sponsored East Demerara Football Association (EDFA) Premier League.
The Stars maintained their shining ways with another comfortable win, a 2-0 result over Plaisance at the Buxton Community Centre Ground. Also recording wins over the weekend were Victoria Kings over Buxton United 2-0 and Mahaica, the biggest margin of victory on the weekend, 4-1 over Ann’s Grove United.
Bakewell Buxton Stars were led to their win on account of goals in either half from Alistair Deane in the 5th minute and Sherwin Griffith 4 minutes into the second half.
Victoria Kings took full points from Buxton United through goals from Rolston Morrison 3 minutes before the half time whistle, Winston Pompey adding one for insurance in the 69th.
The wind was knocked out of the sails of Ann’s Grove with three first half goals by Mahaica. Dellon Charles (5), Mark Collins (22) and Samuel Charles in the 24th minute set the scene for Mahaica’s solid win. Sealing the deal for the winners was Sherwin Hermanstine in the 69th minute. Trevor Glasgow netted Ann’s Grove’s consolation goal.
