NBS Second Division 40-Over Cricket Competition
The New Building Society (NBS) Second Division 40-Over Cricket Competition in Berbice got started recently with some outstanding performances.
Muneshwar Imrit of No. 43 challengers slammed 95 N.O (3 fours and 10 sixes) to steer his team to 242 for 6 from their 30 Overs against No. 52 Survival. His team mate, medium pacer Balram Persaud then took 6 for 36 from 6 Overs to engineer Survival falling for 135 in reply.
Legspinner Avinash Sankar took 6 for 16 from 4 Overs to help his team No. 45 restrict No. 47 Pioneer to 171 with Totaram Persaud contributing 50. Sankar’s effort was however in vain as No. 45 fell for 123 in reply with Totaram Persaud coming back and picking up 3 for 25.
Lakeram Latchman took 3 for 18 to help No. 73 Young Warriors bowl out Strykers of no. 67 for 154. When his team replied, he opened the batting and slammed 82 which included 15 fours and 1 six to see the Warriors to a 6-wicket victory.
Also turning in a good allround performance was Deonarine Seepersaud whose 59 and 4 for 28 from 7 Overs was not enough to save his team, Glasgow New Scheme, from going down to West Canje of Lochaber.
