A mother of three Myrna Lindie, was last night rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) in a semi-conscious state after receiving severe blows about her face and head by the father of her children.
Apparently, her alleged perpetrator and one of his friends dropped the woman off at GPHC at around 22:15 hrs with her eyes and lips swollen, blood oozing from her nose and bumps in her head.
The alleged assailant subsequently left before a report was made at the hospital’s police outpost, while his friend remained to look over Lindie, who has no friends or close relatives in Georgetown.
A distraught Lindie alleged that while she was upstairs of their Tucville, Georgetown, home, the suspect followed her and argued that she was not spending enough time with him. The woman further stated that the enraged man then dragged her down several stairs and pushed her on the concrete in the yard. He then pressed her to the ground while punching her in the face and slamming her head into the concrete.
The woman related that this was not the first time that the man had beaten her up. In fact, this is the reason they were separated for the past four years and it was only recently they rekindled their relationship.
Owing to his abusive nature, Lindie placed him twice before the courts and it was only because he and his friends claimed that he was a changed man she took him back. But Lindie is now fearful for her life.
Throughout Lindie’s interview with this publication, she expressed great concerns for her children’s safety. She had requested that the police remove the children from the home while she was at the hospital but the police were unable to do that without her being present.
Kaieteur News understands that after medical treatment Lindie will have to make a report at the East La Penitence Police Station. From there she can take the police to her residence, uplift her children and spend the night at the Night Shelter. In addition, Lindie can visit the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security today for further help.
