Scrabble players are currently engaged in diligent training sessions in anticipation of the
stiff battles when the curtains go up on the National Championships slated for October 23rd, 26th and 30th next at the Bank of Guyana Sports Club.
Abigail McDonald will put her title on the line against a formidable lineup of ambitious players including Moen Gafoor, Ulric Harris, Colin Chichester, Nicholas Grant Orlando Michael, Leon Belony and Michael Benjamin among others.
Even as the players hone their skills, Corporate citizen, William Walker, proprietor of the Oasis Café, Carmichael Street Georgetown, continues to demonstrate profound interest in the sport and as he has done in the past years, handed over a monetary package to head of the fund raising committee, Moen Gafoor, at his business place.
Mr. Gafoor accepted the gift and expressed profound gratitude to the Oasis boss for his chivalry. He also pointed out that the donation would go a far way towards the successful staging of the championships. Oasis Café has opened its doors to the public some six years ago and has been in the forefront towards the development and promotion of the board game.
