8th Busta Champion of Champions 50 over final
The Area ‘H’ Ground in Rose Hall Town will come alive on Saturday when archrivals and neighbours Rose Hall Town Gizmos and Gadgets (RHTG&G) and Port Mourant Karibee Rice (PMKR) clash in the final of the 8th annual Busta Champion of Champions tournament organised by the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club (RHTY&SC).
RHT Gizmos & Gadgets defeated Skeldon and Blairmont on their way to the final while PM Karibee Rice got past Bermine and Edinburgh.
Despite the absence of several of their stars like Assad Fudadin, Royston Crandon, Esuan Crandon and Clinton Pestano and based on recent form, RHTG&G will still start as favorites especially playing at home.
Leading the defending champs will be 16 year-old Shawn Perriera; the batting would centre around the experience of Renwick Batson, Delbert Hicks, Eon Hooper, Jason Sinclair, Khemraj Mahadeo, Dominic Rikhi, Rajiv Ivan, Arif Chan, Loyden Lewis and Shailendra Shameer.
Medium pacer Renwick Batson would spearhead the bowling with support from off spinners Hooper, Ivan, Shameer, Lewis, Mahadeo and leg spinners Ravi Narine and Shawn Perriera.
Port Mourant has been having a mixed year in terms of results and would need to lift their game in order to get past the home team which has played unbeaten so far this year.
PMKR will be led by Yogweshwar Harrinarine with Bougnarine Persaud as his deputy. The batting will depend heavily on opener Devendra Thakuradeen, the inform Shastri Persaud, Shamer Khan, Hoomchand Pooran and Andre Percival.
On a pitch suitable to spin, the visitors would look to left arm spinner Robert Moore, off spinner Andre Percival, Rajendra Bolo, Thahuradeen and leg spinner Shameer Khan along with skipper who bowls medium pace to limit the formidable RHTG&G batting line up.
Game time on Saturday is 09:30hrs and representatives of the sponsors and the organisers will meet the teams before the start of the game. The winner takes away $80,000 and the Busta Cup with the runner-up collecting $50,000; Man-of-the-final will be rewarded with $10,000.
