– allegedly abducted last June
A Meadow Bank man who was allegedly abducted last June is nursing injuries to the stomach after being attacked last night near his home.
Police have received reports that Troy Alstrom, 33, of Lot Six, Meadowbank, East Bank Demerara, was shot by the occupants of a car while standing near a shop at around 19:00 hrs. However, another resident claimed that Alstrom was stabbed during a confrontation with individuals over a deal.
Reports reaching Kaieteur News indicate that the injured man fled to his home and police ranks later took him to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
In June, Alstrom alleged that two men abducted him near his home.
It is alleged that Alstrom was standing on the Meadow Bank Public Road on June 1, 2011, when two men approached him in a white motor car.
According to police, one was armed with a gun. The two men tied Alstrom’s limbs.
He was allegedly taken to the South Dakota circuit at Timehri, where the abductors demanded a ransom of $4.5M. Alstrom allegedly offered them $100,000 each.
Police said Alstrom was then taken to the home of one of the men and released.
The men were subsequently charged and appeared in court.
