Letter to the Sports Editor…The so-called Guyana Cricket Board abuse of power
Dear Editor,
After a long deliberation, I have no choice but to pen this letter to convince the public of the vindictive and small mindedness of members of the current so called Guyana Cricket Board.
Can you imagine that after bullying everyone, the Government included, the members took office after claiming victory illegally and are functioning in Contempt of Court. I am very surprised that the head of those members would allow others to victimize the Berbice Cricket Board by firing and removing the administrator’s stipend, while the Essequibo Board continues to receive theirs.
I guess it was done because I am the Berbice Cricket Board administrator and it has more to do with me personally than any issue. It is not surprising though. What is surprising is that Mr. Ramsey Ali, a person who I have respected, allows this to happen just under his nose. I sincerely hope that he does not repeat the same precedence created by the long serving former President, Mr. Chetram Singh. If this happens, then I am sure the situation would be worse off.
Let me ask a few questions. Whose monies are the so-called Board handling? Aren’t they answerable to anyone? Or they can just do what they want without scrutiny and accountability? In my opinion, that is public fraud.
I call on the Government to act swiftly to remove these illegal persons from office before it is too late. Everyone is convinced that most of these persons have their own agenda and cricket is not their number one priority. Imagine they are not affiliated to any cricket clubs.
If the relevant authority fails to act, then other organisations will follow suit and there will be massive corruption and fraud all over our beautiful country, thus destroying our image overseas. I also call on all honest and civil minded citizens and organisations to join hands in making sure that justice prevail and people account for their actions.
