Tenelec 1st Division Berbice 50-Over Cricket
– Bramble hits 114 for Skeldon
The 2001 Tenelec Inc First Division 50-Over Cricket Competition in Berbice continued last Sunday with four of the scheduled five sixth round matches.
Berbice wicketkeeper Anthony Bramble became the first centurion of this year’s competition when he slammed 114 for Skeldon Community Centre against Blairmont Community Centre.
His knock which included 12 fours and 1 six helped Skeldon pass the 200 mark for the first time this season.
After they had slipped to 20 for 3, Bramble and Jermaine Reid (40) put on 106 for the 4th wicket to help their team reach a fairly good total of 206. Blairmont Community Centre were however up to the task as they, led by Altaf Khan with 51 N.O (5 fours) and Deveshwari Prashad 42, eventually won by 4 wickets with 6 Overs to spare.
National allrounder, Steven Jacobs turned out for his Berbice club team, Memorex Bermine for the first time this year and stamped his authority by picking up four consecutive Port Mourant Karibee Rice wickets to have them declining from 47 for 3 after national Under-19 allrounder Joemal La Fleur took the first three to help bowl them out for 96.
Memorex’s opening batsman Keion De Jesus then slammed 44 not out to steer his team to a 9-wicket victory.
Rose Hall Town Gizmos & Gadgets slammed 280 for 6 against Young Warriors with former Berbice Under-19 allrounder Khemraj Mahadeo hitting 67 (3 fours and 4 sixes), his 4th consecutive half century, national Under-19 batsman Dominic Rikhi 50 (5 fours and 1 six) and former Berbice Under-19 allrounder Eon Hooper 42.
With Eon Hooper coming back to take 4 for 24 with his off spin (his second 4-wicket haul of the competition) Rose Hall restricted Young Warriors to 210 all out with national batsman Richard Ramdeen top scoring with 50 (3 fours and 1 six).
Edinburgh registered an easy 7-wicket victory over West Berbice. Meanwhile, the match between Police “B” and Albion Community Centre was postponed on the request of the Police due to their ranks engaged in extra duties over the week end.

Skeldon Community Centre, winning the toss and choosing to bat first, in the match which was reduced to 40 Overs-a-side after they turned up late, made 206 in 38.3 Overs with Anthony Bramble 114 and Jermaine Reid 40. Bowling for Blairmont Community Centre, Berbice Under-15 allrounder, left arm spinner Parmanand Ramdhan 3 for 30 from 6 Overs, medium pacer Deveshwari Prashad 3 for 31 for 8 Overs and offspinner Devendra Lalsa 2 for 28 from 7.3 Overs.
Blairmont Community Centre 208 for 6 in 34 Overs with Altaf Khan 51 N.O, Deveshwari Prashad 42, Parmanand Ramdhan 38, Shabeer Baksh 21 N.O. Bowling for Skeldon Community Centre pacer Jermaine Reid took 2 for 20 from 6 Overs.
At Port Mourant, Memorex Bermine beat Port Mourant Karibee Rice by 9-wickets. In the match which was reduced to 45 Overs-a-side because of a late start due to preparation moisture in the pitch, Port Mourant loss the toss and was sent in to bat first. Port Mourant 96 in 37.3 Overs with Yogendra Harrinarine 22, Mahendra Veerasammy 20.

At Rose Hall Town, Rose Hall Town Gizmos & Gadgets beat Young Warriors by 70 runs. With the match reduced to 47 Over-a-side because of a late start due to pitch having preparation moisture, Rose Hall Town winning the toss and electing to bat first, made 280 for 8 in 47 Overs with Khemraj Mahadeo 67, Dominic Rikhi 50, Eon Hooper 42, and Troy Sinclair 30. Bowling for Young Warriors former Guyana Under-15 offspinner Kevin Ramdeen 3 for 67 from 10 Overs, Guyana Under-19 offspinner allrounder Linden Austin 3 for 81 from 10 Overs and medium pacer Amir Rahaman 2 for 40 from 9 Overs. Young Warriors 210 in 42.2 Overs with Richard Ramdeen 50, Videsh Singh 35, Simeon Lawson 32, Shimron Hetmyer 24. Bowling for Rose Hall Town, Eon Hooper 4 for 24 from 9 Overs, Guyana Under-19 offspinner Loyydel Lewis 2 for 27 from 4 Overs, Guyana allrounder pacer Assad Fudadin 2 for 47 from 7 Overs and Berbice right arm legspinner Shawn Pereira 2 for 55 from 10 Overs.
At Edinburgh, Edinburgh beat West Berbice by 7 wickets. In match which was reduced to 47 Overs-a-side because of the late arrival of the West Berbice Team, West Berbice winning the toss and batting first, made 141 in 34 Overs with Andrew Dennis 42 and Rajbance Hemraj 33.
Bowling for Edinburgh, pacer Zaheer Hussain 3 for 37 from 7 Overs, pacer Deenarine Seepersaud 2 for 7 from 8 Overs and offspinner Raid Ali 2 for 27 from 7 Overs. Edinburgh 142 for 3 in 29.4 Overs with Elroy Nelson 41, Shafiq Khan 35. Bowling for West Berbice offspinner Dennis Webster 2 for 26 from 7 Overs.
