Headless corpse…Relatives told body must be exhumed to match head

The relatives of Rickie Ramkarran of Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo, whose corpse was beheaded a day after burial, are calling on the relevant authorities to hand over the body part so that they can finally put an end to their grief.
Almost two weeks ago the head was recovered and was taken away by the police and to date it is still to be handed over to the man’s relatives. On Wednesday the family visited the Ezekiel Funeral Home where the head is being stored to enquire whether they could uplift it, but were told that permission would have to be given by the police.
At one point, the relatives said they were told that the body will have to be exhumed as part of a police investigation to ascertain that the head does belong to Rickie Ramkarran. However this is a cost which the family was told would have to be untaken by them. Relatives said that they are 100% certain that the head belongs to Ramkarran. The man’s relatives say they have even given the police written statements about the incident as persons in the area claim to have seen who carried out the act. However, to date, no one has been charged with the offence.
On September 9, last, relatives went to the Tuschen burial ground to do some finishing touches to the tomb where Rickie Ramkarran was laid to rest. They then discovered that the tomb had been broken into. Further checks then revealed that the corpse was beheaded. The matter was immediately reported to the police. Ramkarran was buried a day prior to the discovery and had died after ingesting poison. Two weeks after the man’s head was found on the road leading to the Tuschen Seawall.
