Dharry to appear as Ignite partners
The December 7th professional boxing card fixed for the Princess International Hotel and Casino by Briso Promotions is taking shape with several loose ends being tied up and Elton Dharry also signing onto the card. This and other disclosures were made to Kaieteur Sport yesterday by Briso Promotions head Seon Bristol at the Hotel located at Providence on the East Bank of Demerara.
Kaieteur Sport was also introduced to Miguel Gurchuran and Paul Jivcurran of Printing and Marketing Establishment, Ignite, located in Bel Air. Ignite, who is associated with boxer Simeion Hardy, are on board with the card lending their support.
Bristol disclosed he was able to secure a contractual arrangement with Dharry to appear on the card and an opponent is being looked at. Dharry will fight in one of the main supporting bouts. He also informed that the official agreement has been signed between his promotions and the Princess Hotel and Casino to stage the card there.
The Promoter is also looking to bring two fighters out of the United States to appear on the card, which promises to be entertaining for the fans.
The main event pits Andrew ‘Sixhead’ Lewis against Hector Camacho Jnr in the main event, while Shondell Alfred, the WIBA champion, will battle an overseas opponent. According to Bristol, one of three opponents is being sought for Alfred. Negotiations are already underway and it will be known shortly who Alfred will face.
The three being looked at are; Claudette Alexander of St Maarten, Mayerlin Rivas of Venezuela and Paulina Cardona of Colombia.
Bristol noted that things are taking shape nicely and he has been getting good responses from persons. However, he is looking for full corporate support to ensure a successful staging of the card. Sponsorship dollars is important to the staging of sporting events and he is calling on the business houses to throw their full support behind the promotion.
As the administrative aspects of the card takes full shape, the main principals are gearing for the impending action. Bristol informed that he was in contact with ‘Sixhead’ Lewis who was very dedicated to his preparation and exuded confidence and looked very focused, indicating he will win this fight.
Meanwhile, Shondell Alfred was at the Hotel during the interview and she informed that her training was on target. She has been involved in gym and road work morning and afternoon and will get into sparring later. She said she is preparing for any style presented to her by her opponent.
Hardy, who was also present, has also been preparing and is a young prospect to watch. He could possibly be up against Christopher Henry, as the pair of high achievers is on a collision course. Hardy through Ignite has been able to secure sponsorship for his preparation from Ansa McAl, Shanta’s and Kashif and Shanghai. Ignite has also expressed the desire to sponsor and help more young boxers in the near future as the company grow.
