As the Shariff stable takes control

Fairy Landing of the Mohammed Shariff Stable West Coast Berbice with Rupert Ramnauth on the mount made sure that nothing was in its way as it took off from the starting gates like a horse possessed and maintained a steady gallop like a Jet plane and landed safely to take the feature E and Lower event when the Rising Sun Turf Club in collaboration with the True Friendship Society successfully held their grand Fund Raising one day horserace meet at the Rising Sun Turf Club Arima Park West Coast Berbice.
It was an action pack day of racing which saw eight races being contested and over $5.2M in prize monies and trophies at stake. Close to 65 horses took part in the day’s action.
Fairy Landing known for its sprinting powers was out of the gates with a bolt of speed with the much vaunted Marathon man on its heels as the race was going at a blistering pace.
Majestic also of the Shariff stable along with the Bailiff and Pinch the cash was also keeping a close tap on things as the animals galloped down the back stretch and into the far turn.
Into the homestretch there was no stopping the Fairy Landing as it galloped away for the victory in the 1400M event and claimed the of $500,000 winning purse and the Banks DIH Trophy ahead of Marathon Man, Majestic and The Bailiff.
Swinging Easy of the Shariff Stable with Jamaican Brian Blake in control made it hard on its opponents with an easy gate to pole win in the co-feature event for Guyana and West Indies bred three year old horses.
The animal swung away from the field and was never challenged as it captured the $400,000 top money and trophy compliments of Citizens Bank and Neal and Massy Guyana Limited in the 1300M event from fast finishing stablemate Domasaca Dream as neither Captain Crook nor Work Force could stop them.
Serenity of the Chattergoon stable piloted by Yap Drepaul with a blistering finish chalked up another victory in the Two- year old event for Guyana and West Indies bred horses as it romped away with the Ansa McAl Guyana Limited and BK International sponsored event from Settle in Seattle, Red Cloud and Happy Choice. The win was worth of $ 300,000 over 1100 meters.
Face the Music of the Elcock stable skillfully ridden by Drepaul faced up to all the challenges as it came from way down in the pack to take command of the G class event down the homestretch to romp home an easy winner in the end as the others wilted under the pressure to take the $220,000 winners money and trophy on offer compliments of Hand in Hand and Sterling Products from Zelona, Miracle Run and Prado’s Gold in the 1300 metre race.
Little Tip Top of the Singh stable with Jamaican Findley on the perch came big as it won the DDL and Nauth Construction Company sponsored Guyana Bred maiden two year old race over 1100m from Sonia Door to take the reduced $100,000 first prize.
Royal Salute of the Habibulla stable with Drepaul in control came through for a win over stablemate Dream Girl in the H and lower 1300m Demerara Life sponsored event as it carted off the $200,000 prize burning up Pixie Fire and Prospector’s Pride in the process.
The John Fernandes and New GPC sponsored ‘I’ class 1300m race was won by Infinity of the Nascimento stable with Blake in the saddle from of Royal Salute, Royal Time and Natural Mystic for the $180,000 top prize.
Kevin of the S. Mootoo stable ridden by J. Singh won the Digicel sponsors I3 and lower event and the $160,000 winner’s money from Pleasant Surprise.
Yap “old boy” Drepaul was adjudged Best Jockey, while Glendon Sooklall from the Shariff Racing stable was adjudged Best Trainer.
The Shariff Racing Stable made sure there were no hindrances as it took charge of proceedings to be was adjudged the top stable.
They all received accolades compliments of The Trophy Stall Bourda Market and the organizers. Over 65 horses participated in the day’s proceedings and close to $ 5.2 million in cash and prizes were distributed.
