Dear Editor,
I have taken notice of a full page advertisement in the GuyExpo supplement by Digicel which seems to suggest that government took a wrong decision in delaying the passing of laws to allow other companies to sell the same services.
I am not sure of the intent of the ad but I read somewhere that Digicel is interested only in international calls.
As a Guyanese consumer hoping for a long time now for better service, I must say I am disappointed.
I can understand Digicel’s decision to attack GT&T. What I can’t understand is their attack on government. It may be an issue of profits.
We have had GT&T for over two decades now and there has been doing things. While I would have loved to see more speed by GT&T, I can’t say I am happy that Digicel is only interested in international calls.
As a matter of fact, if the newspapers are to be believed and government pulled the documents from Parliament to add more materials to ensure Guyanese are protected, I can’t see how Digicel could feel that government should be questioned.
I have lived abroad for a number of years and one important lesson learnt is that people have the right to demand better.
I am asking Digicel to think about something more and not just an interest in the laws being passed so that they can access international calls.
A long-suffering customer!
