An ex- policeman stabbed his paramour several stabs and then slit his throat Friday evening
at the Blairmont Estate. Both individuals were severely injured with the man in a very critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit of the Georgetown Public Hospital.
According to the injured woman, Zenola Blair, 40, of Carriage Road, Rosignol, West Bank Berbice, she was at work in the Sugar Stores on Friday evening, when around 20:45 hrs, Colin Fraser of D’ Edward Village, West Bank Berbice approached her and said that he wanted “to talk”.
She said that the man was armed with two kitchen knives, one of which she said was a chopper. Fraser was employed as a fitter/machinist at the same location.
“He said ‘them thing what me doing, he don’t like it’, and that I give he rudeness—and he take out the knife and started to chop me on my back”, she recalled. She noted that her left thumb was cut when she tried to defend herself.
Fraser then took one of the knives and slit his throat then tried to run out of the building, but did not make it far, since he collapsed.
The ambulance picked up Blair and took her to the New Amsterdam Hospital. Fraser, who was in a more critical state, was rushed to the city hospital.
According to Blair, this is not the first time that Fraser has behaved violently. She described their relationship as tumultuous.
She said that he had tried the same stunt before, running Blair out of the Sugar Stores with a knife at the Blairmont Estate.
She said that she made a report on that occasion to the Blairmont Police Station. The couple had been together for quite some time, but had separated recently.
Blair has since made a report at the Blairmont Police Station.
