Participants of the five-day coaching course conducted by renowned instructor Shiv Jagday received their certificates of participation Friday evening following a simple farewell ceremony organised to say thanks to the work done by the coach who departed yesterday morning.
President of the Guyana Hockey Board Philip Fernandes in an invited comment spoke of the importance of the Course which he felt will significantly improved the standard of hockey locally, while with the focus being on junior development it helps to broaden the base of our coaching staff, especially when it is considered that most of the
participants are among the better minds in hockey.
According to Fernandes there was an advanced element in the course so it also helps to add another element on the national coaching grid which could only serve to increase the number of coaches who will then be more equipped to develop new players.
Jagday in his farewell remarks said he was extremely pleased with the turnout and commitment shown by the participants and expressed confidence that what was taught will help to develop new players that could make this country become one of the more formidable teams very shortly.
