Namilco, the country’s lone flour mill, is releasing two new products – Parsad Mix and SIrnee Mix – at GuyExpo 2011. Free samples are available for both products at their Namilco exhibition along with Polourie made from their Polourie Mix and Wheat Up made from their Wheat Up Mix.
All products are made from flour produced in Guyana. According to Affeese Khan, Marketing Consultant for Namilco, “Guyana previously imported flour from other countries and now Namilco wants to change that by using flour made in Guyana to build a new distribution system.”
These products are available at any grocery store within all regions. There are 12 flour products carried by Namilco –Thunderbolt, Self Rising, Roti Mix, Multigrain, Whole Wheat, Harvest, Wheat Germ, Wheat Up, Creamed Wheat Up, Polourie Mix, Parsad Mix, and Sirnee Mix.
Flour in a packet is more hygienic than flour from the larger 45kg bags. It is also simpler to handle and does not cause mess in the kitchen. It makes preparation of dishes easier because of its pre-mixed ingredients, Khan said.
