The Little Diamond Martial Arts Academy hosted is 5thannual Kyokushinkai martial arts
tournament on September 25 celebrating the academy’s 9th anniversary.
Shiyan Nazim Yassim who is the founder and chief instructor of this full contact martial arts academy in Guyana and a 7th Dan chinkairu black belt,3rd Dan Black Belt; Karate. The academy has a total of 35 students in three branches around Guyana and will soon have another in Linden.
The tournament was a smashing success with seven (7) categories namely traditional kata, kobudo weapons’ kata, sword kata, free form kata, kumite (fighting), sword kumite, weapons vs. karate kumite.
The judges for this year tournament are all from the Guyana Karate Masters Association namely Christopher Nervily, na 8 Dan fudoshin jujitsu black belt, Eustace Cuffy a 6 dan fudoshin jujitsu black belt and Sensei Steven Roberts a 3rd Dan fudoshin jujitsu black belt.

The Little Diamond Academy is also hosting a training session in the Botanical Gardens today to show case the Kyokushin fighting style and to educate the public on the importance of self-defence and the discipline of martial arts.
