The 5th Annual Ride for Life Five Stage Cycle Road Race will be held from October 6-9 in the three counties and involving the cream of the country’s cyclists along with several overseas competitors, setting the stage for an exciting event.
On Thursday October 06 Stage 1 – commence at 07:30hrs at Corriverton Police Station, proceed to New Amsterdam to finish at Alexander Street – a distance of 46.6 Miles (75Km).
Stage 2 – commence at 14:00hrs at Rosignol, proceed to Carifesta Avenue Georgetown – a 60.4 Miles (96Km) journey.
Friday October 07 Stage 3 – commence at 09:00hrs from Wales Police Station, proceed to Bushy Park on the East Bank of Essequibo – 35 Miles (56Km).
Saturday October 08 Stage 4 – commence from 07:30hrs at Supenaam proceed to Charity before returning to Suddie – covering 67 Miles (107.05Km).
Sunday October 09 Stage 5 – commence at 08:30hrs from Kara Kara, Linden proceed to Homestretch Avenue, Georgetown – covering 64.6 Miles (103.3Km). Total distance of the race approximately – 266 Miles (430Km).
Transportation for cyclists and officials leave the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, Main Street 12:30hrs on Wednesday October 5 for Corriverton.
Registration for cyclists closes on Monday October 3 with National Cycling Coach, Hassan Mohamed at his Middle Street office during normal working hours.
The defending champions in the various categories are: 2010 Overall Winner – Antonio Quintero -10Hrs/18Mins/26Secs; Junior winner – Paul DeNobreiga – 10Hrs/22Mins/35Secs and Veteran -Antonio Quintero – 10Hrs/18Mins/26Secs.
