Yesterday in the Georgetown Magistrate court, a young man was taught the value of respecting a woman’s wishes after he was given two weeks to cool off for unlawfully assaulting his former girlfriend.
Mark Wilson, 18, was jailed after he pleaded guilty to the charge.
It was alleged that on September 18, at Festival City, Wilson assaulted Ashley Smith while the latter was waiting for a bus.
Wilson slapped Smith several times on the face and repeatedly cuffed her in the abdomen because he was previously told by the young lady that she no longer wanted to have a relationship with him. According to the prosecution, Wilson also forced the young lady to sit next to him on the bus where he continued his assault.
The young man, in his defence, told the court that he became enraged by the girl’s decision to leave him and therefore dealt her only one slap.
