The Universal Sports Store yesterday made a contribution to the two Guyanese
in the West Indies under-19 team which tours India this month and the other who was in the training camp in Barbados but failed to make the touring squad.
Andre Budhan, the Store’s USA based CEO, presented cricket gear to Ronsford Beaton and Amir Khan and Stand-by player Chanderpaul Hemraj at a simple ceremony at GCC and told the youths that he hoped the support motivates them to strive for more success and to get into the West Indies senior team.
Both Beaton and Khan have already played first class cricket and Budhan said that for every four-wicket haul or fifty scored in India by the pair, $30,000 of gear will be presented to them on their return home.
“These youngsters are the future of Guyana and West Indies cricket and we hope they can make us proud both on and off the field and be good role models for other youths in Guyana and the West Indies.”
