Digicel’s Public Relations Manager Shonnet Moore speaking during the presentation of monies to the Guyana Amateur Boxing Association (GABA) and the Guyana Canoe Federation (GCF) stridently reiterated the Company’s explicit support for all sports.
Moore shortly after presenting respective cheques to officials of the two Bodies reminded those in attendance of Digicel’s unreserved commitment towards the development of sports in Guyana, adding that despite football and cricket being the two most popular sports in the country, the Company have not limited their assistance to those two disciplines only.
The Public Relations official said that they’ve always viewed their involvement in sports as unrestricted, meaning if all the requirements that they look for are in place they have no qualms in offering their support to any discipline that may make a request for assistance.
She added that Digicel is quite happy to partner with the two entities, informing that it is the first time that they’ve teamed up with the GCF and is eager to see a successful event run off, while the affiliation with the GABA has been ongoing and growing.
The GCF was represented by Onica Harrison, who in her remarks said that the entity was extremely grateful for the support and look forward to a long and fruitful relationship with Digicel.
The assistance was to support the junior and senior canoeing competition which took place on Saturday at Lake Mainstay.
Representatives of the GABA Eustace Cuffy and Terrence Poole thanked Digicel on behalf of the Association, adding that Digicel’s support is testimony to the seriousness that they treat sports.
