Registration for 10km Road Race closes today
The route for the 3km ‘Health Run’ aspect of the much-anticipated Courts Road Race on Sunday has been identified while registration for the competitive 10km Road Race will close today at the Courts Main Street Branch after over two weeks of that process.
To add some excitement to what is being touted as a mega event, Courts Guyana Inc. will award the ‘First Place Courts Finisher’ in the 3km ‘Health Run’ that is scheduled for friends and family of staff members and other stakeholders, $20,000 for their efforts.
Participation from a wide cross-section of society in the 3km run is encouraged, and registration for this aspect of Sunday’s race is free. Meanwhile, registrations for the ultra-competitive 10km Road Run closes today at Courts’ Main Street Office.
The 3km ‘Health Run’ will start outside of Courts on Main Street, proceed north to the Seawall, continue along the Seawall, turn right on to Camp Street, continue to Lamaha Street, turn left on Lamaha Street, proceed west to Main Street, turn left onto Main Street.
The race will continue in the southern direction to the Bank of Guyana before turning right onto Main Street (western side) and finishing at Courts. The ‘Health Run’ is aimed a promoting what is being touted as a healthy lifestyle among fitness enthusiasts.
The winners of the 10km Road Race in the male and female senior categories will run away with a whopping $100,000. The second place finisher will get $80,000; third place $60,000 and fourth place $40,000. The fifth place finisher will go home with $20,000.
Trophies will accompany all prizes. The prizes in the Masters category are $60,000, $40,000 and $20,000 respectively for first, second and third. The Masters’ category is for competitors who are Over-40 years old. There will also be a junior category for U-20 athletes.
The race gets underway at 6am with the Guyana Police Force controlling the race route while the First Aid will be on hand to ensure a smooth and incident-free race. Banks DIH has also come on board with its Tropical Mist Water and Powerade brands.
