Residents of Jibb have expressed alarm at the discovery of a young fisherman, Ragu Persaud, whose body was discovered on the Paradise foreshore early yesterday morning.
However, many are speculating that the young man’s death could possibly be the result of a fall he sustained.
Police, however have not ruled out foul play.
The body of the 21-year-old Ragu Persaud, a fisherman of Jibb was discovered by a man, called, Mr T., on the Paradise foreshore. He bore multiple bruises on his face. Police said they also observed blood oozing from the man’s nostrils.
At Persaud’s residence, his younger brother, Visham Persaud, related that his family was alerted to his brother’s death by the man who made the discovery.
Vishma said that his father; Geernauth Persaud, immediately went over to the neighbouring village, where he identified his son. The 18-year-old, Visham said he last saw his brother on Friday while the latter was preparing to load items to make another trip to sea.
Ragu Persaud was described as an alcoholic and a user of marijuana. The body was taken to the Suddie Public mortuary.
Recently police were called in to investigate the death of an epileptic, whose body was found in an unused refrigerator in Jibb.
