– Team leave Friday for B/dos
The Guyana Netball Association (GNA) received a timely donation from Giftland Office Max recently when Marketing Manager Compton Babb presented a cheque for an undisclosed sum to Captain of the Combined Club Team Christel Lambert, at the entity’s Head Office on Water Street.
According to a release, the 10-member team is expected to depart Guyana on Friday to participate in the Barbados Workers Union Goodwill Tournament and missing on this occasion is Coach Lavern Fraser-Thomas, but Angeline Mc Carthy will take up that responsibility of wearing two caps Coach/Player.
Meanwhile, Babb speaking at the occasion wished the team success, but not before mentioning that it was not the first time that the Company has supported Netball.
He added that one of the priorities of the entity is to support young people in sports, but Netball has a special interest with them.
“As Guyana #1 Department store it’s our interest to give back to the country using sports as the vehicle o do so.”
Babb challenged other major companies to get on board and support sports in Guyana.
It was disclosed that the National Sports Commission (NSC) also made a donation of netballs to the team, at its Middle Street Office.
The Tournament commences on September 10th.
